Our commitment
Fraud and financial abuse reach people of every age and ability, and many of the people who need us are older adults or living with a disability. Everyone deserves to use this website with ease and dignity. Victim Advocacy Associates is committed to making victimadvocacy.com accessible, and to improving it continually.
The standard we work toward
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines explain how to make web content usable by people with a wide range of disabilities, including blindness and low vision, deafness, limited movement, and cognitive differences.
What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “skip to content” link.
- Text and backgrounds are chosen for strong contrast, and text can be enlarged without breaking the layout.
- Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- The homepage opening animation can be skipped with any tap, click, scroll or key press, and does not play at all for visitors whose device is set to reduce motion. Screen readers hear the full headline at once.
- Form fields have clear labels, and error and success messages are announced to screen readers.
- The site never plays sound on its own.
- Pages work on phones, tablets and computers.
Known limitations
Some content provided by third parties, such as linked websites, may not be fully accessible, and we cannot control it. We review the site regularly, and if we find a barrier we will fix it as quickly as we can.
